Take your musical theatre skills beyond the notes! This dynamic class focuses on the art of story-driven singing, teaching students how to make bold acting choices through song. Participants will work on solos, duets, and ensemble numbers, learning how to analyze lyrics, build authentic characters, and connect emotionally to their material. Perfect for young performers looking to nail their next audition or bring deeper truth to their stage performances.

Get ready to set sail! Rubber City Theatre is thrilled to announce auditions for our upcoming production of Anything Goes Youth Edition. We are looking for up to 30 energetic young performers to join this classic, tap-dancing, musical comedy on the high seas!

Audition Date: August 22, 2026
Audition Window: 10:00am-2:00pm
Location: Rubber City Theatre at Guzzetta Hall - 228 E Buchtel Ave Akron, OH 44325
Rehearsal Schedule: September 12-November 14 from 1:30-4:00pm. Tech Week is Nov. 15 from 2-6pm, and Nov. 16-19 from 5pm-8pm.
Show Dates: November 20 and 21 at 7:30pm; Nov. 21 and 22 at 2:30pm. Possible added performance on Nov 22 at 6:30pm.

Auditions will be conducted live in small groups of 10.
1. Vocal Audition
1. Vocal Audition
Prepare a 1-minute cut of a classic musical theatre or jazz song that showcases your vocal capability and personality.
Suggested Song: "I Got Rhythm" (if you need a recommendation!).
Accompaniment Requirements:
Tracks: You may bring a track on a phone/device. Please bring your own speaker.
Sheet Music: If singing with an accompanist, bring sheet music in your correct key with starting and stopping points clearly marked.

A group dance call will take place immediately following vocal auditions for each group.
Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
Footwear: Bring tap shoes or jazz shoes.
**** Pop-up Class! Broadway Tap-featuring music from Anything Goes Jr. —Instructor Sarah Bailey
Ready to make some noise? This fun and welcoming tap class is designed for students with little or no tap experience. Participants will learn the fundamentals of tap technique, including basic steps, rhythms, terminology, and musicality, while building coordination, balance, and confidence. This is a perfect opportunity to prepare your dancer for their upcoming audition.
Class is free but we will gladly accept a $5 cash donation to help fundraise for our upcoming production.
Registration is required and limited to 30 participants. Dancers should come in either tap shoes or jazz shoes.
