At Rubber City Theatre, our education programs are built on a simple foundation: professional instruction in a warm, empowering environment. Whether your child dreams of Broadway or simply wants to gain confidence speaking in front of a crowd, our classes foster creativity, teamwork, and personal growth.
Theatre Institute
Theatre Institute
The Theatre Institute (Ages 7-14) gives young artists a vibrant introduction to acting, voice, movement, and stagecraft. Led by experienced teaching artists, students collaborate to create characters, explore stories, and perform on stage—all while building self-esteem and lasting friendships.
What They'll Learn: Acting fundamentals, vocal projection, improvisation, story creation, and ensemble work.
Format: Saturday classes, Saturday performance workshops, and summer camps.
Final Showcase: Every session concludes with an interactive performance for family and friends! Saturday performance workshops are a fully mounted junior script (about an hour in length) that runs for 4-5 performances.

Teen Takeover [Ages 13-18] is designed specifically for middle and high school students looking for high-level artistic training and performance opportunities.
The "Takeover" Experience: Opportunities to write, direct, design, and star in teen-driven productions mentored by professional theatre artists.
Flexible Pathways: Tailored tracks for both performance-focused students and off-stage technical theater enthusiasts.

Does my child need prior acting experience?
Not at all! Our programs welcome absolute beginners alongside seasoned young performers. Instructors tailor exercises to meet each student where they are.
Where do classes take place?
All educational programs are held at our home in Guzzetta Hall at the University of Akron, giving students the experience of learning in real rehearsal rooms and theatrical spaces.
What should students bring or wear to class?
Students should wear comfortable clothes they can move freely in, Jazz Shoes or socks, and bring a reusable water bottle.
