Our Summer Arts Camp is back and better than ever! Your student will spend their morning on campus at the University of Akron immersed in the arts. They will start their day in visual art class, exploring artists and their techniques through multimedia applications. Next up, Music Class! Here they will pick up an age-appropriate instrument like the Ukelele and learn how to read music. Then they will head to the theatre for fun and interactive theatre games with Rubber City Theatre. After lunch on campus, students will head into rehearsal for our camp production of Roald Dahls; Willy Wonka KIDS!

RCT's summer performance workshop is Disney's High School Musical JR!
Get your head in the game and take center stage this summer with Rubber City Theatre! In this three-week musical theatre intensive, students will dive into the world of High School Musical JR., building skills in acting, singing, dancing, and ensemble collaboration while learning what it takes to mount a full production. Guided by professional teaching artists, campers will rehearse, explore character and storytelling, and grow in confidence both onstage and off. The experience culminates in a fully staged performance for family and friends—because at Rubber City Theatre, summer is where wonder begins.

Camp Fee: $400 per student, with Pay-What-You-Can Options available.

Find your voice! Create and perform your own 10-minute musical from scratch.

Ages: 7-15
What to prepare: Please prepare a pop song of your choosing and a side (only one) from the selections provided. Pick a character in a side and have someone read the other characters!
Please submit your video audition by March 6, 2026 by 5pm.
Workshop Schedule: Rehearsals take place during our performance workshop camp. Camp hours are M-F 9:00am-3:30 PM. Camp runs July 6- 26.
Performances: July 24 at 7:30pm, July 25 at 2:30pm and 7:30pm, and July 26 at 2:30pm. (Possible added performance on July 26 at 6:00pm).
We will be casting 40 students in this production. 11 leading roles and 29 in the ensemble [with some additional featured roles assigned].
