Our Special Events are the "limited edition" moments of our season, where the raw power of storytelling takes center stage. This versatile arm of RCT encompasses three distinct experiences:

• Concerts & Cabarets: Inspired by the legendary Encores! series in NYC and vibrant cabaret cultures, these high-energy productions focus on the music. Whether it’s a staged concert with a soaring orchestra or an intimate musical revue, these events offer a "one-night-only" atmosphere that celebrates the joy of performance in its most agile form.

• Akron Originals: We take pride in producing short-run, "Akron Special" productions—stories and performances curated specifically for our local audience. These limited engagements allow us to be topical, celebrate local narratives, and produce work that responds to the heartbeat of our city in real-time.

• The Developmental Pipeline: Rubber City Theatre serves as a vital laboratory for the future of American theatre. Through our developmental productions, we host workshops and "pre-Broadway" runs of shows heading to New York City and beyond. These events offer our patrons an exclusive, "behind-the-scenes" look at the creative process, giving Akron audiences the first seat at the table for the next big hit.
