Winter/Spring Classes 2023

As  Akron’s only professional equity theatre company, we are here to prepare your budding young performer with the skills they need to take the stage. Rubber City Theatre is dedicated to providing positive theatre experiences in a professional setting. Our programming is a combination of specialized training and performance opportunities. Our class offerings this session will feature exploration, scripted work, and musical theatre. If your child is ready for the stage, they can audition for a chance to be in our spring performance of Matilda the Musical. This show will be our first partnership program with our professional Equity company. RCTots--Theatre and Music Exploration

Your budding young performer will love this class full of storytelling, music, and theatre exploration.  Children are encouraged to learn through play in this fast past interactive class. This class can be repeated. Join us on the last day for a special “informance.” ​
Improvisation and Theatre Exploration 
Ages 6-8

Join us as we explore theatre through improvisation. Students will develop the ability to understand what makes a character unique by creating 3 dimensional characters on stage. Learning through improvisatory games, your child will challenge their imagination and critical thinking skills. Join us on the last day as we play some of our favorite acting games-we might even ask you to join in!
Musical Theatre; Kids on Broadway
Ages 6-8

From Les Miserables to Matilda, kids play a vital role on the Broadway stage. This class will focus on improving skills in music, movement, and acting.  Along with gaining knowledge, your student will learn a 32 bar audition cut to be used for upcoming auditions. Join us on the last day of classes for a special performance.
Acting and Script Analysis 
Ages 8-13

This class will help your performer understand how to break down a script into its vital components in order to build a captivating performance.  Students will develop the ability to  read the text forward and backward, looking for the hidden meaning and actions underlying each word and what to do with them. Join us on the last day for a special “Informance.”
Musical Theatre, Golden Age Musicals 
Ages 8-13

Join us this winter as we explore the music of the Golden Age.  The lyric melodies of composers like Rogers and Hammerstein are a must have in every musical theatre audition repertoire! This class will focus on improving skills in music, movement, and acting.  Along with gaining knowledge, your student will learn a 32 bar audition cut to be used for upcoming auditions. Join us on the last day of classes for a special performance.
